Ronnie James Dio Diagnosed with Stomach Cancer

Ronnie James Dio, singer for Elf, Dio, and most notably Black Sabbath (or Heaven & Hell, which has become the touring name so as not to conflict with Ozzy Osborne who owns the rights to the name Black Sabbath) has been diagnosed with stomach cancer, and is scheduled to undergo immediate surgery.

According to his wife, Wendy Dio, “Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans. Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.”

Ronnie James Dio has been an influence on my poetry and songwriting since I was a teenager. He is one of the most laid back, and humble human beings you will ever meet, and I ask that you keep him in your prayers, meditations, and thoughts.
