Top 10 Royalty Free Audio FX Sites
As a musician and video editor, I am always on the lookout for sound effects or an occasional piece of background music (I will normally record an original piece, however, when time constraints are an issue and I need something quick, I depend on the sites below). I have compiled the top ten sites I visit when I need a quick sound effect, or a piece of scoring music for a video sequence.
Most of the sites below do not charge for their services, however, they may ask for a mention or a link back to the site. Please respect the “small print” on each site, and play nicely.

I tend to believe in the old axiom of “you get what you pay for”. I know there is some good free stuff out there, but my time is worth something.
For the last few months, I have gotten all of my music from http://www.royaltyfreemusiclibrary.com. You can license songs as low as 7 or 8 bucks each and save yourself a ton of time looking for quality.
(and they do have a few freebies there as well)
For sound effects, I use http://www.sounddogs.com.
